Degen’$ Farm Core Game Mechanics Powered by Chainlink Price Feeds

Howdy, frens! We’re excited to announce that we’ve integrated Chainlink Price Feeds on mainnet to activate the main feature of our game — dynamic NFT farming. We’re excited to reveal to users how the underlying game mechanics work and how it leverages Chainlink oracles to access high-quality and reliable price data needed to generate boosts when breeding NFT creatures.

We decided to integrate Chainlink as our go-to oracle solution because it is the most widely used and time-tested decentralized oracle network in the industry. It already supports top DeFi and NFT apps, successfully securing tens of billions of dollars in value across the blockchain space through periods of high market volatility and network congestion.

Creating a fair, engaging NFT farming game with Chainlink

Degen’$ Farm is a collectible NFT game on Ethereum using the ERC-721 standard, where players can collect unique NFT creatures, lands, and tools. Each creature not only delights its owner but also accumulates network fees in the process.

There are 20 types of creatures on our farm, with three levels of rarity: normies, chads, and degens. While 2000 normies are available during the initial distribution, 400 chads and 20 degens can only be farmed. Essentially, 2000 normies are used to breed 400 chads, which can then be used to give birth to 20 mighty degens.

If you want to farm one chad creature, you need to get one normie and one land and deploy both into our farming cabinet for one week. Not everyone will get them though — the basic probability of chad farming is 20%, and chads are breeding the mighty degens with a basic probability of 5%. But you can improve it, and that’s where the real farming competition starts!

Successful farming depends on the luck and DeFi experience of the farmer. Each creature is connected with a specific DeFi protocol. For example, our horses are in love with UNI. If the farmer has UNI tokens in their wallet, the chances of farming a chad horse are boosted. But it’s not only a whale’s game! If the price of the asset connected to the creature type increases during the farming process, the chance of getting a rare creature is also boosted. Tracking the price of the selected asset is crucial, and Chainlink Price Feeds ensure that the calculation behind the probability of getting a rare creature is fair, precise, and tamper-proof.
